It's a mix of youthful idealism and hope and a desperate desire to believe in someone against all odds.

I know that life is not a romantic comedy, but I guess I've still kind of fallen into the idea that maybe sometimes things are meant to be. I've learned a few things though. I constantly see couples breaking up, talking shit and then getting back together - an ebb and flow that they come to accept as normal. I guess on a grand scale I'm guilty of this, but recent events have taught me a very important lesson: the person who is really great for you, the person who brings out the best in you, your partner in crime? That person is not going to second guess your relationship until it's lost all meaning. That person is not going to rip your heart out of your chest even one time, and he certainly won't do it twice. And that person shouldn't make you an option, because in love you deserve to be a priority.

But I'm not going to waste my time on someone who isn't great for me. Settling for familiarity is bullshit.  One day, I'll find someone capable of keeping my heart safe when I hand over the key and say, "Hey, don't fuck this up."

I cannot get enough of  'Broken Bells', a new indie-rock band created by Danger Mouse and James Mercer (lead vocalist & guitarist for the band The Shins). You can definitely hear Mercer's influence on this album, it sounds like a mash up of The Shins, Modest Mouse and Spoon. I couldn't have possibly chosen my favorite track off this album because they are all magic. Well Hang.

My new favorite instrument, the Hang. Apparently the Hang's sound is as rare as the instrument itself. Invented by a genius Swiss couple -Felix Rohner and Sabina Schärer - they're only willing to make a handful of these instruments every year to order through their company (Panart) and are selling for around 1800 euros, which is around 2350 Canadian dollars. Through my brief research I discovered the Swiss couple haven't patented the Hang yet and it looks as though some companies have caught onto its popularity and are in the process of re-creating knock off Hang Drums. Good news for those of you seriously considering purchasing one, bad news for the inventors. Lets hope they can hang onto their reputation as the inventors & creators of this amazing instrument. On that trip I learnt something very important. Escape through travel works. Almost from the moment I boarded my flight, life in England became meaningless. Seat-belt signs lit up, problems switched off. Broken armrests took precedence over broken hearts. By the time the plane was airborne I'd forgotten England even existed.

Week one - New Zealand.

Been a busy busy week, non-stop busing, beaching and boozing. We've travelled through the middle of the North island hitting Rotoura, Waitomo and Taupo. In Rotoura we went Sledging; rafting on your own individual boogie board type thing through grade three rapids. It was much more demanding than anticipated, I could definitely feel it in my arms for the next couple days. Waitomo is famous for its underground caves filled with glowworms so of course we took an inner tube through one of the main caving systems to check it out. Kind of reminded me on lying under a REALLY starry sky, totally mesmerizing. Turns out they're not actually glowworms but maggot larvae with glow in the dark poo which attracts bugs  for them to eat. Totally ruins the effect. Today in Taupo Steph & I jumped from a plane at 15 000ft. Best thing I've done here so far, I think it'll have to happen again in Australia. Posted some pictures on Facebook, check them out there! We're off to New Zealands capital, Wellington, tomorrow morning then it's of to Australia on the 16th!

27 hours on a plane later..

Hello hello from Auckland New Zealand! I wouldn't recommend 27 hours of flying to anyone, unless it brings you here. NZ is beautiful, we saw a little bit of the country side on our taxi ride from the airport to the city. We spenttonight and the last in downtown Auckland in a Base hostel. The city reminds me a lot of Montreal but with more sunshine, plus 25 today! Today we took a 30 min walk down to Misson Bay and hung around in the sunshine by the ocean. We booked a tour bus with Kiwi Experience that leaves north for Pahia in The Bay of Islands tomorrow at 7am. It's famous for its scuba diving and beaches, we'll spend two or three days here then head north to 90 mile beach for some sandboarding.

 Love and miss you all! I'll keepyou updated and hopefully post some pictures soon. And mom, stop worrying. I'm alive and well. Loooove youuu
